Hydraulic Manifold Blocks
Vajra Techno machines hydraulic manifold blocks to customer drawings on vertical and horizontal machining centres at Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, in aluminium, mild steel, grey cast iron and stainless steel 304 and 316. Blocks are deburred, cleaned and dispatched pan-India.
What is machined on a manifold block?
Face milling to size and flatness, valve cavity machining, port drilling and threading, cross-drilling of internal galleries, plug-hole machining, counterboring for seals, and identification marking. Multi-face blocks are machined with fourth-axis indexing so port-to-port position is held in one clamp.
Cavity forms are machined to the cavity standard called on your drawing. State the standard — SAE, ISO 7789, DIN, or a cartridge manufacturer’s own form — on the enquiry. Where the form needs tooling not currently held, that tooling is quoted as a separate line before order rather than absorbed silently into the piece price.
Which materials are used for blocks?
- Aluminium — low and medium pressure circuits, weight-sensitive applications
- Mild steel — general industrial hydraulic circuits
- Grey cast iron — cast manifold bodies requiring machining only
- Stainless steel 304 and 316 — corrosive, washdown and marine-duty circuits
The working pressure rating of a finished block is a function of your material selection and wall thickness, both of which are set by your design. We machine to the drawing; we do not certify a pressure rating we did not design. Where a rating must be verified, state the test requirement on the enquiry.
Why does cross-drilling accuracy matter?
A manifold is a solid block with intersecting galleries. Every intersection is both a flow path and a potential leak path. If a cross-drilled gallery breaks out short of its intended intersection, the circuit is dead. If it breaks out beyond, the block leaks to atmosphere or to an adjacent gallery.
Gallery intersections are therefore machined from a single datum set, with drill depth and entry position both controlled. On multi-face blocks the fourth-axis route on the horizontal cell holds face-to-face position without re-clamping, which is what keeps intersecting bores meeting where the model says they meet.
What tolerances are held on ports and cavities?
Cavity diameter, port true position, mounting-face flatness and sealing-face finish are the four characteristics that decide whether a manifold seals and whether the cartridge seats. Each is committed against the callout on your drawing at quotation. Thread callouts are machined to the standard stated on the print — BSP, NPT, metric or UNF.
Cavity tolerance in particular is not negotiable after the fact: a cavity outside the cartridge manufacturer’s stated band will not seal however well the rest of the block measures. It is treated as a critical feature and checked on every first article.
How is deburring handled?
Deburring is the operation that decides whether a manifold works in service. A burr left at a gallery intersection breaks loose under flow and travels into a valve seat or a proportional spool. That failure appears weeks after commissioning, at the customer's site, and is expensive to trace.
Every intersection is deburred as a specified operation on the process sheet, not as a cleanup afterthought at the end of the job. Blocks are then washed and, where required, plugged or capped before packing. Where your specification calls for a particular deburring process, state it on the enquiry and the route is confirmed before quotation.
Is cleanliness verified?
Cleanliness verification against a particle-count standard such as ISO 4406 is arranged on request. State your cleanliness requirement on the enquiry so the wash and verification stage is priced into the process rather than added afterwards.
Are blocks pressure tested?
Pressure and leak testing of finished blocks is arranged on request. Where testing is required, the test pressure, medium, hold duration and acceptance criterion must be stated on the drawing or the purchase order so the test is quoted against a defined pass condition.
What quantities are accepted?
Single prototype blocks are quoted alongside repeat production batches. Prototype manifolds carry full setup and any cavity tooling cost on one piece, so piece price is high relative to a batch — that is arithmetic, not a minimum order policy. Typical batch sizes and lead times are on the capabilities page.
What drawing information is needed to quote?
A 3D model as STEP or IGES showing the internal gallery layout, plus a dimensioned 2D print in DWG, DXF or PDF carrying port callouts, cavity standard, thread specification, surface finish on sealing faces and material grade. Gallery detail is difficult to read from a 2D print alone, so the model matters more on manifolds than on most part families.
How are blocks packed and dispatched?
Ports are plugged or capped, machined faces protected, and blocks individually wrapped to prevent face-to-face contact damage in transit. Dispatch is pan-India by road from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh.
How do I get a manifold quoted?
Send the model and print with quantity, material grade, cavity standard and any test requirement through the RFQ form or to vajratechnoinc@gmail.com. NDAs are signed before drawing review where required.
