Frequently Asked Questions
Vajra Techno is a contract CNC machining shop at Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, running vertical and horizontal machining in-house and supplying finished parts pan-India. These are the questions sourcing engineers ask before placing a first order.
What is the minimum order quantity for CNC machining?
Vajra Techno has no blanket minimum order quantity. Single pieces and prototypes are quoted alongside repeat batches. A single piece carries the full setup cost rather than spreading it across a batch, so the piece price is higher. Send the drawing and the quantity you actually want and you get a price for that quantity, not a price for a quantity that suits us.
What machining tolerances can you hold?
Achievable tolerance depends on material, feature and fixturing route, so Vajra Techno publishes it per material rather than as one headline figure. The tolerance accepted is the tolerance on your print, and the achievable band on each critical feature is confirmed to you in writing at quotation. Tight callouts are reviewed against the print before the order is accepted rather than after the first article.
Which materials do you machine?
Vajra Techno machines grey cast iron, ductile iron (SG iron), aluminium, mild steel, stainless steel 304 and stainless steel 316 as standard. These cover castings, manifolds, housings, shafts, bushes and tooling components. Brass, gunmetal, tool steels and engineering plastics are quoted case by case. Send the grade with the drawing and you get a yes or no quickly.
What is your typical lead time?
Lead time depends on material, batch size and whether the part is new or repeat. Lead time is quoted against your specific part and quantity. First-off parts run longer than repeat orders, because process planning, fixturing and first-article inspection all sit inside the first lot. Repeat schedules against a standing process plan run shorter.
Do you accept prototype and single-piece quantities?
Yes. Vajra Techno quotes prototypes, first-off samples and single pieces as well as production batches. Setup and any fixture cost sit on that one piece rather than being spread, so expect a higher piece price than a batch quote. Say on the enquiry that the part is a prototype, and give the date you need it by, so it is scheduled against that date rather than against general shop load.
What is your first-article inspection process?
A sample is machined against the approved process plan and inspected against every dimension on the drawing, not just the critical ones. A written first-article report is issued to you before any batch is released. Production runs only after you approve that report. Vajra Techno does not release batch production on an unapproved first article.
What drawing formats do you accept?
Vajra Techno accepts 3D models as STEP or IGES, and 2D drawings as DWG, DXF or PDF. A dimensioned 2D print governs the part even when a model is supplied, because tolerance, datum scheme, surface finish and thread callouts live on the print. If you have only a model, we will ask for a marked-up 2D print before quoting.
Will you sign an NDA before reviewing our drawings?
Yes. Vajra Techno signs a non-disclosure agreement before drawing review where you require one. Send your standard NDA with the enquiry, or ask and one will be provided. Customer drawings, models and part numbers are not shown to other customers, used in marketing, or published on this site without written permission.
Do you supply across India, or only in Madhya Pradesh?
Vajra Techno supplies pan-India. Machining is performed at Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, on the Indore industrial belt, with road connectivity to Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, NCR and the southern manufacturing clusters. Parts are dispatched anywhere in India. There is no restriction on delivery state or region.
How is freight handled and who pays it?
Dispatch is by road transport from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. Freight is arranged on either paid or to-pay terms as agreed on the purchase order, and buyer-nominated transporters are accepted. Freight terms are stated on the quotation so the landed cost is clear before you order. Freight is not silently loaded into the piece price.
What are your payment terms?
Payment terms are agreed per customer and stated on the quotation, then confirmed on the order acknowledgement, so there is no ambiguity at invoice stage. Terms for a first order with a new customer are agreed before the order is accepted. Tooling and fixture charges are invoiced separately from piece price.
Do you have capacity available right now?
Capacity moves month to month against the order book, so ask for availability against your specific delivery date when you send the enquiry rather than relying on a published figure. Vajra Techno commits a delivery date on the order acknowledgement, not on the enquiry.
What is the maximum part size you can machine?
Send the part envelope with your enquiry: overall length, width, height and weight. You get written confirmation the same working day that the part fits, and which cell it goes to, before anything else is discussed. Capability by route is set out at vajratechno.in/machining-capabilities.
What is the difference between your VMC and HMC work?
Vertical machining is three-axis and suits parts where most features are on one face: plates, covers, brackets, single-face housings. Horizontal machining adds a fourth-axis rotary table and machines several faces in one clamp, holding face-to-face position without re-fixturing. Multi-face castings, gearbox housings, pump bodies and valve bodies are routed horizontally at Vajra Techno.
Can you machine castings we supply free of charge?
Yes. Vajra Techno accepts free-issue castings, forgings and cut bar stock at Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, and returns machined parts. Incoming stock is checked for machining allowance and visible defects before the first cut. Castings short of stock or defective in a critical face are quarantined and reported rather than machined into scrap.
Do you supply raw material, or only machine ours?
Both routes are supported. On supply-and-machine orders Vajra Techno procures raw material or castings against your specification and quotes a finished part price. On free-issue orders you send the material and are quoted a machining-only price. On supply-and-machine work the casting is procured against your specification, or from a foundry you nominate, whichever you prefer. The casting route is stated on the quotation.
What surface finish can you achieve?
Milled face finish depends on material and tooling route. Finish is committed per feature against the callout on your drawing rather than published as one blanket figure, because it moves with material, tool geometry, feed and depth of cut. Where a print calls a finish tighter than the milled route delivers, Vajra Techno flags it at quotation and routes that feature to a finishing operation.
Do you provide inspection reports with the parts?
Yes. A written first-article inspection report covering every drawing dimension is supplied before batch release. In-process check records are maintained at an agreed frequency on features the drawing marks critical. State your per-lot report requirement and preferred format on the purchase order and it is supplied with the consignment in that format.
Do you offer turning, grinding or heat treatment?
Vertical and horizontal machining are performed in-house by Vajra Techno at Dewas. Turning, cylindrical grinding, heat treatment, plating and painting are quoted on request as part of a finished-part price. State the required secondary process on your enquiry and the full process route is confirmed in writing before the quotation is issued.
Are you ISO certified?
Certification status is confirmed on request, and no certification is claimed on this website that cannot be evidenced by a certificate number. What is in place regardless is documented first-article inspection against every print dimension with a written report, no batch release before your approval, a fixed process plan per part, and in-process checks at agreed frequency on critical features.
How do parts get packed for transit?
Machined faces are protected, bores plugged where the drawing requires it, and ferrous parts coated with a rust preventive sized for the transit duration. Shafts and ground surfaces are individually sleeved so parts do not contact each other. Long items are crated. Packing is specified for road transit across India from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh.
What happens if a drawing revision changes after we place the order?
Vajra Techno machines to the drawing revision stated on the purchase order. A revision issued after order release is treated as an engineering change: the change is reviewed against the process plan, and re-quoted if it affects fixturing, operation sequence or cycle time. Parts already machined to the superseded revision are discussed before anything is scrapped.
Who owns a fixture built for our part?
Fixture cost, ownership and storage terms are stated in writing on the quotation before the order, and fixture cost is quoted as a separate line from piece price. Customer-owned fixtures sent to Vajra Techno are stored against your part number and returned on request. Tooling cost is never amortised silently into a piece price.
How do I request a quotation?
Send a 3D model as STEP or IGES and a dimensioned 2D print as DWG, DXF or PDF, with material grade, batch quantity and required delivery date, to vajratechnoinc@gmail.com or through the RFQ form at vajratechno.in/contact. Also state whether material is free-issue and whether an NDA is required before drawing review.
